2011 Field Report From Visiting Student

2011 Field Report In the summer of 2011, college student Carter Bauman visited GOSESO for one month. A Public Policy and Community Service major at Emory and Henry College in Virginia, Carter studys the impact of community structure and institutions on social change. Carter is also an active soccer player, and enjoyed playing soccer during his stay. Carter and his family have been close friends with GOSESO founder Yared Fubusa for over a decade, and continue to support GOSESO through generous donations. In future, he hopes to return to GOSESO to assist in the development of soccer programs that play crtitical roles in the Kigoma region. Below is a short excerpt from his field report:

"I play soccer (mpira wa miguu) every evening and three times a week in the morning. It has really connected me to the community, because soccer is the heart and soul of this community. Imagine having 100 people watching practices, and hundreds of people watching the matches. It's a great environment...I have organized a soccer tournament/fundaraiser in my hometown when I return to Virginia in August. My goal is to raise $10,000 to build a soccer field on the GOSESO campus." - Carter Bauman, Visiting Student
